The remains of Dr. Esther Oludayo Afolabi, a retired school principal, entrepreneur and former staff member of Adeleke University, Ede, will be laid to rest on June 26 and 27, 2026, in Modakeke, Osun State.
According to a statement issued by the Afolabi family, a Service of Songs and Wake-Keep will be held on Friday, June 26, at her residence, Castle of Mercy and Grace, Phase 3, Moremi Estate, opposite Energy Petrol Station, along Ile-Ife Road. The event is scheduled to commence at 4.m.
The family disclosed that the Funeral Service and Thanksgiving would take place on Saturday, June 27, at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Anu, Modakeke DCC Headquarters, located along Urban/Ondo Road, beginning at 10a.m., following a private interment. Guests are expected to proceed thereafter to Ojaja Resort, along Ibadan Road, Ile-Ife, where a reception will be held in honour of the deceased.
Afolabi, who died at the age of 71, hailed from the renowned Baba Akande/Baba Abiye family of Ede. A devout Christian and lover of people, she distinguished herself in education and ministry. She earned a Master’s degree from LIFE Theological Seminary, Lagos, and later obtained a PhD from Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State.
Throughout her career, she made notable contributions to the education sector as a school administrator and also served in various capacities as an entrepreneur and academic. Family members and associates described her as a woman of faith, compassion and service whose life impacted many.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor E. O. Afolabi, children and other members of the family.
